We are looking forward to a great 2012 with our dancers. Our classes are beginning work on their performance dances. We are very excited that our Teen/Adult and Advanced Ballet/Pointe classes will be performing the Divertissements from the ballet “Paquita.” Our younger ballet classes will be performing one of our all-time favorite ballets “La Boutique Fantasque - The Fantastic Toy Shop.” Our Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical and Hip-Hop classes will have equally exciting dances. The performances will be in May on Memorial Day weekend. In February, we will be adding a “Performance Newsletter” to the website. Please be sure to check both the Monthly Parents’ Newsletter and Performance Newsletter pages often.

This month’s Dance Definition - Time Step: A repeatable combination of tap steps that marks tempo.  Time Step can refer to an eight measure movement placed at the beginning of a dance routine. Originally used for the purpose of setting the tempo of a routine for the musicians as rehearsals were rarely exercised in small time vaudeville. There are countless variations of the Time Step.

Ballerina Birthday Parties! We make it easy and enjoyable for your little girl to have her dream birthday party. Games, decorations, dress-up, and even the cake are ballerina-themed. Your party-goers will get to be ballerinas with their own ballet class! And, you will be helping one of our dancers fund-raise her tuition to a Summer dance intensive. The studio SNACK BARRE is open on our downstairs level for your convenience and your dancer’s enjoyment. Your hungry dancer may purchase items like String Cheese, Fruit Roll-Ups, flavored water, juice, and Gold Fish. We offer $5 “Snack Cards” so your dancers doesn’t have to carry money. Just put $5 in the money box and write your dancer’s name on a blank card, found in the Snack Card Box. The dancer then marks off the amount of her purchase until she uses the $5 up.

PROPER DANCE WEAR, with the DANCER’S HAIR SECURED, helps our instructors to teach your dancer. Our dress code is found on the STUDIO POLICIES PAGE. If your dancer is in ballet, you should check our HOW TO MAKE A BUN PAGE. The ballet bun is essential for the dancer to be able to learn how to turn. It is also an important part of the discipline, etiquette, and polished look of the ballet dancer.
